About Southampton Airport
Southampton Airport has a long history which began in 1910 when the first aircraft took off from the original site.
In 1932 the site was purchased by Southampton Corporation who named it Southampton Municipal Airport. In March 1936, the airport made history, with the launch of the first spitfire prototype, a significant moment for Southampton.

Today the airport is a thriving transport hub with over one million passengers passing through each year.
